Sci-Fi II is a useful sound library from Frank Serafine that contains many vintage and modern science fiction sound effects. The library's contents are provided as 16 bit / 44.1 kHz broadcast wav files on DVD ROM.
Many of these sounds were recorded in unique and sometimes dangerous environments, using a variety of processes. These range from vintage analog and digital sampling synthesis, to elaborate field microphone techniques. Many of the sounds are the result of recording with microphones invented by Frank Serafine, in order to create and mimic sounds used in several films. Although these sounds are named by virtue of what they most sound like, they can be used in a multitude of applications.
